Update!!

February

  • Highlight was spending over a week in Paris with my Jon, Jon Liu (best man) and his girlfriend Viv Thanks to Jon Liu's generosity, he let us go and stay there with his air and hotel points! We had an awesome time, ate some awesome food including my first 9 course french dinner and of course crepes:) The city is absolutely beautiful and I love how the original architecture and historical buildings haven't been knocked down to build high rises like in NYC.
  • My wedding dress also arrived!

March, so far

  • Started my new job :) Team is great and I am already learning a ton! They really care about my career development.
  • Organized a JPMorgan Asset Management asian networking event. This was an interesting one, the CEO of our Investment Management Americas business basically asked me to do this after meeting me at drinks after work (for those who had pass level 1 of CFA). From the feedback we (me and someone who helped me organize) got, it went well. About 40 ppl showed and people seem interested in discussing issues regarding asians and the workplace and really building a network. Fortunately my last job gave me exposure to all the senior asian managing directors in the business (which there are really only 6) and one of them knows the CEO equivalent heading up the business in Asia. So the next event I might be able to have this CEO talk about opportunities in Asia (and no, not really looking to go there yet or at all). But it's just neat how God has placed me into these situations and to really build relationships. If any of you have ideas, issues, or comments on or about asians and the workplace, let me know:)
  • Booked part of our honeymoon!!
  • Went to see Christina Aguilera in concert with Tiff and Jenn, great show done by an of course, amazing singer!

The end for now

This is a bit outdated, but I got the job and I took the job

I start in a month!

I have decided to embark on career path of financial planning for individuals. I am still JPMorgan and dealing with high net worth clients ($1-$25 Million) so I get to learn a TON! I know this is great way for me to serve the community around me:) maybe God will lead me to starting my own practice, consulting individuals of all sorts of financial situations...I hope to one day be teaching financial education to adults, kids (I did at one point). I see so many opportunities ahead of me! The way God gave me this opportunity is intriguing and the struggle to take a step back in order to do something I think I am called to do was definitely difficult, especially when $ and parents are involed. But people come around, and my senior managers have been way way supportive. It was encouraging to hear from them that they can see me doing well in this career and that it's a good fit for me. It is nice when community affirms your decisions! I cannot help think that the best verse to summarize my experience is "Acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight".

Possibly more big changes ahead...much going on for sure!

2007 has definitely brought more than I or Jon have expected!

Figure I give an update

Wedding plans: sort of going as planned! We got a lot of things booked in November and started some other things. So we have our place for the ceremony and reception (its a catering hall so everything is pretty much set and in the same place), photographer & videographer, our band, bought my dress and bridesmaid dresses, have our pastor, all sorts of lists have been created powered by Excel, so we're on our way! I am a type J (Myers briggs) if you couldn't tell already. But there are still many details and things to execute. Plus Jon and I have to plan reception details for our Hong Kong banquet that takes place 2 weeks after! Thanks to his parents as they booked our place already So planning is going well and I am enjoying my time with Jon as we prepare for marriage I do not see how planning can be incredibly stressful. It does take a lot of work and thought, but definitely not stressful. Maybe it will be in the last several weeks up to the wedding? I hope it doesn't become stressful as I know what is more important, i.e. being prepared for marrige itself and seeking to please Him through it all, and just having fun! So keep us in prayer! thanks!

A funny note about my type "J" and "jump on it" personality: I convinced Jon to buy our bedding (matching duvets, shams, etc) already because we got such a great deal (closeout) on good quality stuff I had been eying. Coudn't register for it anyway because it was a closeout. So we have no place to live together, nor a bed, but beautiful bedding in bags sitting in his closet!

Hm..possible new career opportunity has come up for me that I believe God has placed in my lap. I had lunch with someone I used to work with, and basically brought up my interest in what he does and he basically said, "We're hiring!!". The timing in which this conversation and situation is of course not just coincidental, especially since it's a role that I believe God could really use me in to serve others and that I have a strong interest in. Tim Keller, my senior pastor at the church I attend, said that to discern calling/vocation, usually 3 things are present: Affinity, Ability, and Opportunity. Rarely all 3 are present at once, so in this case it is! Not by all means does this mean I just take it, but that I should definitely consider it and pray through my decisions.  More to come on that and what pans out.

Turned 25 last week:) I had fun! Jon surprised me with a bag of presents at work from him and his sister and bought me pretty flowers the next day:) Yay for surprises! Thanks for the wishes:)

Saw Christina Chi last week! Glad she will be on the east coast for work!

Jon is in Hong Kong now. He will be babied by his family one last time before he goes back in September and is married  Waiting for my pink Nintendo DS-Lite that Jon will get in HK and then me and him can play 2 player=) yay yay yay

Last thing, the book of Romans in the Bible is awesome!!How is Paul so deep and is able to capture so much truth in just a few sentences at a time?

Good night

I got the Nintendo Wii for Jon yesterday!!!!!!!!wii

And no I did not pre-order, nor did I wake up early to wait in line..how did I do it!??? Guess it was just placed in my hands! We got the machine within 20 minutes. For those who know me, you will probably or most definitely laugh at this story as you can probably picture it perfectly...

So the last several weeks I would see Jon looking up demos for this system, showing me demos, getting me excited about it. So I really wanted to get it for him! We were in Jersey this weekend and tried to get it at Circuit City and waited outside just right before they opened, but of course they were gone (I didn't know how this all works). Disappointed, but wanted to complete my mission!

So around 2PM we are back in the city and decided to check out the Toys R US in Times Square. We see a line outside but I said, "let's just go in!". Of course you needed to wait in line for a braclet to even get a system and they said they were not handing any more out. I quickly glance around..long lines...a few people carrying 2 systems..so then I go "Wait! How many systems can each person get who has a braclet". The guy says "Up to 2". So I scan the crowd some more and decide to what? ASK PEOPLE!!! Hahahah. I ask them if they have a braclet and if they could cover one for me.  I am rejected a few times..one guy said no, another said they had a preorder..I started feeling needless to say a little embarassed by rejection ahhaa.. but I was determined!! Then I find a highschool kid with his mom, who was gracious enough to spot me. She was soo nice, didn't even charge me a premium. And it turned out they were next in line to purchase so I even avoided the lines!!! Jon of course is standing away from the line on the side, floored by my boldness. His one comment " I don't know how you do it!" I am pretty shocked I actually did that. Guess I will go lengths to make Jon happy Happy early birthday (It's on 12/1 by the way)!!! The Wi is AWESOME!!!

We have 4 sets of controllers. You know who to call.
